At South Bay Aquatics, we believe swimming is a skill for all ages! Classes start as young as 6 months and you’re never too old to learn this life saving skill!
Absolutely! For children under 4, we require a non-disposable swim diaper be worn under their swimsuit. Please see our front desk for an at-cost reusable diaper or you can also find them year-round on Amazon. Disposable swim diapers are not allowed as the filler can escape the diaper and clog our filters.
While swim lessons are what we are about, we also offer both family and fitness memberships, Junior Guard prep classes, and pre-team stroke refinement and stamina training.
Yes we do! Just give us a call or come on by and we will be happy to schedule you for free 15 minute private trial lessons to determine an age and skill appropriate class.
Absolutely! There is no age limit when it comes to the life saving skill of swimming
Here at South Bay Aquatics, we schedule on a perpetual basis, meaning you can start or stop lessons at any time.
Group classes are 30 minutes in length, and Private classes are offered in both 15 and 30 minute lengths.
Swimming is a skill that is best learned with regular practice. Taking seasonal lessons and then taking a break results in skill regression. For best results, we recommend once to twice weekly lessons throughout the year until your child has a demonstrated proficiency.
Each child progresses at his/her own rate, and their progression is dependent on a number of factors, including their age, coordination, underwater comfort, and interest in learning to swim. Consistency is KEY! If at any time you have concerns about your child’s progression, we encourage you to ask to speak with one of our program directors so that we can make a point to schedule a personal review of their class to address your concerns.
While we do not offer a sibling discount, for families with multiple children, we offer a “semi-private” class where we split the 30 minute class between the two siblings, where each child is taught at their appropriate skill level, at a discounted rate from our full group class rate.
Make-up classes are free of charge and are scheduled in available openings up to one week in advance. There is no additional charge to do a make-up class, they do not expire, and you need not be enrolled to use the make-up class. To ensure that everyone has an opportunity to make-up their missed classes, we schedule one make-up class at a time. Should you have multiple make up classes to do, we encourage you to schedule your next make up class as you leave. Please note that we do not guarantee your normal instructor and make-up classes may not be used in lieu of future tuition.
At South Bay Aquatics, we maintain our pools at a comfortable 90 degrees to ensure that our swimmers are comfortable and able to relax in the water environment. Our pre-team pool is maintained at 82 degrees for the comfort of those vigorously swimming competitive strokes.
Each time you visit, we recommend you come with your swimsuit on, with a seasonally appropriate cover up, a dry towel, and goggles. After your lesson, we have gender neutral, individual shower/changing areas where you can rinse off and get changed into dry clothes. All changing areas have soap dispensers, and you are welcome to bring shampoo/conditioner to clean up after your lesson. Electrical outlets are available in both the Men’s and Women’s restrooms for those who wish to blow dry their hair prior to leaving the facility. Should you forget your towel, we have towels at the front desk available for purchase.
For the safety of all involved, we require that all students under the age of 16 have a parent/guardian on site during their visit. A pool deck can be a slippery and dangerous place, and we ask for your assistance in safeguarding your child from slips and falls, as well as assist our instructors in keeping your child seated on the steps when they are not actively participating in class with their instructor. Please note that you are responsible for supervising your child at all times while at South Bay Aquatics. We encourage you to shut off your devices and take 30 minutes to be an active participant in your child’s swim lessons, cheering them on and celebrating their accomplishments.
Yes we do! All our locations feature individual gender neutral shower/changing areas where they can rinse off after their lessons. All showers have soap dispensers, but you are free to bring your own shampoo/conditioner as you wish. If you prefer, both our Men’s and Women’s restrooms can be used for those who prefer a same-sex changing area.
Absolutely! We strongly encourage family members to sit poolside, disconnect, and be an active participant in your child’s lessons, cheering them on as they learn new skills!
Should you wish to take a break or are ready to stop lessons, please stop by the front desk and fill out a cancellation form, or if you prefer, you can send an email to info@southbayaquatics.com and we will cancel your lessons as of the date you specify or the date of the notification, whichever is later. Please save a copy of this form/email for your records as it is proof of your cancellation.
All lesson tuition is final and we do not provide refunds. Should you wish to terminate mid-month, please contact our front desk staff, who will make the appropriate adjustment to your account and charge you as appropriate for the following month. If you choose to cancel during the current month, an unused lessons tuition will remain on your account for future use.
If we are unable to provide you with your lesson as contracted, for example, your instructor is ill and we are unable to provide an alternative instructor, or the pool must be temporarily closed due to a power failure, etc, we will offer you either your choice of a make-up class for that lesson or a refund of the tuition for that class.
